How YOU Can Make A Difference.

Sorry, for some reason the last entry didn't post correctly before so here are some tips that you can use in your daily lives to conserve water.

  • Don't let water run needlessly while doing dishes, shaving, brushing your teeth, etc.
  • Take shorter showers. Keeping your showers under five minutes can save up to one thousand gallons per month!
  • Plug the bathtub before you turn on the water and adjust the temperature as the bath fills up.
  • Fix leaky faucets: just one drip per second can waste two thousand gallons of water per year.
  • Try to run the dishwasher or washing machine only when it is full.
  • If you live in an older home consider adjusting your plumbing with low-flow fixtures and low-flush toilets.
  • Water your lawn only when necessary and in mild climate times of the day.
  • Place a bucket in the shower to catch excess water to water plants later; this also works when washing vegetables or dishes in the sink.
  • Place water convection vessels such as barells or large buckets to collect rain water from down spouts and rain gutters. Use the water to water your plants.
Thanks to volunteerguide.org for some of these great ideas!
